Week 5: Feb. 4- Feb. 8
In-class Monday: Peer Review Q&A and Logical Fallacies Group Presentation:
Each group (this week only groups 1 and 2 will present) will be assigned one rhetorical appeal and will prepare a 5 minute presentation and worksheet on the logical fallacies associated with that appeal. Your worksheet should include original and relevant examples, and it should be easy to read. The idea is that we are compiling a helpful resource for your classmates to reference. Prefer to do something online or in a wiki? Fine by me! Want to include images? Also okay, as long as the format is attractive and readable. Email me one copy of the worksheet/reference per group by midnight on Sunday.
Due on blog by small group (individual) meeting: Revision Plan
On your blog space, post a plan for revising your paper that indicates what, why, and how you will improve your paper. Focus on 3-5 key areas (thesis, punctuation, evidence, formatting, organization, vocabulary, etc.). Be as specific as you can about the area. That is, if you write "organization," explain what is problematic about how you've structured the paper, and how you might "fix" it. You can do this in paragraph, bullet, or any other form that feels appropriate. We will discuss your revision at your conference.
Wednesday and Friday: individual conferences in place of small groups. Sign up for a time on the google doc.
Due Wednesday at 8:00a.m.: peer review of intermediate drafts
This week, you should be focused on revision. What are you struggling with as you write this paper, and how can you resolve that? This would be a good time to take your paper to the Writing Center for additional feedback or troubleshooting if you're not feeling confident about the paper.
